9/15/2026 A Veterans Village update:
It has been a busy couple of weeks. Let me tell you what we have doing and who we have met with!
1. We met with the County Planning department to get information on building a tiny home community in Nez Perce County. It was very informative. The requirements, how to get zoning to do this etc.
2. I met with an engineering firm who will be doing a prospective site plan for us. It is a concept only plan that we can share when we talk to people, it will be modifiable when we need the real thing. We should have the drawings in about a month.
3. I met with the veterans service department at the Community Action Partnership to get some statistics about the housing issues facing older veterans in our area and to let them know what Veterans Village is all about.
All were good meetings, we have alot of information that we did not have before. We were given other resources to contact to fill in areas where we have a lack of knowledge so I am looking forward to reaching out to them.

8/17/2026 A Veterans Village update:I went to Riverbend Homes here in Lewiston this morning to see if I could get some pricing on tiny homes that they build and sell. They took my information and will be submitting to their headquarters to see if they can get us a good deal on the ones they build. That may mean a cost savings over having construction companies do it for us. They will get in touch with us soon. Lets hope they have some good pricing.
I have made another quilt, this time it has an eagle panel. As soon as I get it back from the quilters I will start selling raffle tickets.
If anyone knows any company or organization that I can come speak at to help cast the vision please have them contact me. I am happy to do that. This will not happen without community support so please spread the word!
8/8/2026 Good morning everyone, it has been some time since I posted anything about Veterans Village so I will catch you all up today.We still have not gotten the 501-c-3 approval from the IRS. It has been 6 months since we filed it. Hopefully it won't be too much longer.......We are still looking for someone in the Genesse Idaho area to donate 3-4 acres of property so we can begin all the foundation stuff like permitting, applying for grants, looking for contractors etc. I know that as soon as the property is ours then people will really get on board to support the project. Everyone I talk to about this thinks it is something that needs to be done for our veterans.If you know of any organizations that I can speak at to cast the vision please put them in contact with me, if it is in our area I can meet with them in person or I can do a phone call with anyone anywhere. The phone # is 208-717-4508.If anyone would like to do a fund raiser for Veterans Village that would be greatly appreciated. All proceeds go directly to Veterans Village. No one on the board of directors gets a salary, all money taken in goes to make this project a reality! So give!!!!! Help us however you can.
Monday was Meat Bingo at the Corner Villa to raise money for the continuing start up expenses of Veterans Village. It was a great success, we had a very successful fund raiser and got the information to more people about who we are and what we are doing for veterans.
We are continuing to move forward on the planning of the project and contacting people who may be able to help

This past weekend we attended the local Veterans Fair in Clarkston Washington. We met alot of people who were very interested in the Veterans Village concept. We are continuing to move forward with looking for a donation of 3-4 acres of land in the Genesee Idaho area. This would be an ideal location for this community. It is between the two larger towns of Lewiston and Moscow Idaho but it is still in a somewhat rural area.
